Erin Reilly is working with Dr. Tobias Bolch at TU Graz. Her research uses hyperspectral satellite data to identify the mineral composition of debris covering glaciers in the Central Himalayas. Because different minerals absorb and reflect heat at varying levels, these surface materials can influence how quickly glacier ice melts. By studying these patterns, we hope to better understand the factors driving glacier change in this region.
