Topic: Univentricular Circulation and It's Pathophysiological Implications
As part of his residency training in cardiac surgery and his PhD/doctoral studies, he is conducting a translational research project at the Division of Cardiac Surgery, Boston Children’s Hospital – Harvard Medical School, under the supervision of PD Dr. med. habil. Ingeborg Friehs, MD, a recognized leading expert in the field of congenital and translational cardiac surgery. The project aims to advance therapeutic options for children with an underdeveloped left ventricle, in whom pathological myocardial stiffening critically impairs cardiac function.
The research focuses on deciphering the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying this maladaptive remodeling process and on validating novel pharmacological strategies in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Ultimately, the project seeks to improve ventricular function and enhance long-term survival and quality of life in affected pediatric patients.
