About the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation

The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation is an endowment established according to Federal legislation for foundations and funds. The Foundation was initiated with a financial allocation from the ERP Fund to the sum of 30 million schillings. The aim is a transfer of knowledge between the USA and Austria in the areas of economics and social sciences. Research work is thereby commissioned and cooperation encouraged in economics and social science research projects. An international advisory body with personalities from the academic, economic and political fields supports the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation in programmatic questions.

The Foundation is non-profit-making, and its activities extend across the whole republic. Contributions from enterprises, syndicates and local authorities are needed to extend the financing basis. Such sums are tax deductible.

Strategy
The Foundation benefits and supports the co-operation between Austrian and American universities and academics. In order to achieve the necessary flexibility, further financial resources need to be opened up and dedicated to the Foundation for the long-term. The strategy of the Foundation is to develop social studies and economics research projects respectively with different American universities. These programs are under the leadership and responsibility of an Austrian and an American academic, and each represents a defined general theme. The activity of the Foundation is then largely oriented towards the respective university and theme.

The Foundation benefits and supports the co-operation between Austrian and American universities and academics. The social science and economics research projects are carried out in the framework of:

  • Austrian guest professorships in the USA
  • Conferences, lectures and symposia in Austria and the USA
  • Post Graduate/Research Fellowships
  • Awards for academic publications
